The government has released Rs 370.146 million for 2004-05 under the current annual development programme (ADP) for the uplift of Mohmand Agency, Fata Media Cell (FMC) release said here on Saturday. During the last six moths, the government has spent Rs 185.94 million on various welfare projects and development schemes including education, public health, engineering, communication, power and agriculture sectors in the agency.

In this regard, the government spent Rs 30 million on education sector, in power Rs 78 million, Rs 16 million in communication and Rs 14 million in health sector, having the 99.98 percent of fund utilisation ratio during the last six months in Mohmand Agency.

As many as 96 development schemes were being implemented, including 83 percent ongoing and 13 new schemes, FMC said. It added that in education sector, 90 community schools are being opened including 20 girl schools whereas 12 middle schools have been upgraded under the plan.

In health sector, 28 community health centres are being opened and all major hospitals of the agency are being provided CT scan, MRI machines and others latest equipment.

"Seventeen mega drinking water supply schemes were also completed under the current year ADP" FMC release said and added that feasibility study of a Ghalani pilot project water drinking scheme was in progress to ensure potable water to all.

In the communication sector, 118 kilometre long road was constructed while single road was under construction which link all major towns and cities of the agency. Moreover, a single road up to Manzari in Khoezai area had already been opened for traffic. In Bhaizai area 74 dug-wells, 10 small barani ponds and dam were also under progress, FMC release added.

Moreover, under three special development packages, ie out of Rs 219 million, Rs 53.602 million have already been utilised under Khoizai package, Rs 72 million under Ambar package and Rs 10.172 million under Baizai package to bring at par the agency with the developed areas of the country.
